If you are experiencing chronic neurological symptoms and pain that have reduced your level of functioning, and are seeking intervention from a qualified specialist, Neurosurgical Specialty Services at Ellenville Regional Hospital (ERH) offers highly skilled evaluation and treatment by Michael Stewart Hahn, M.D., P.C. Dr. Hahn, a highly qualified neurological surgeon, sees patients onsite at the ERH Specialty Services Department and performs outpatient surgeries and procedures to alleviate and treat many common neurological conditions. ERH offers a holistic approach to treatment that does not rely solely on medications to alleviate, improve or cure symptoms. Following proper diagnosis, our outpatient programming emphasizes surgical interventions, injections, procedures and complementary rehabilitation sessions.
For convenience, you can participate in physical therapy (speech/language and/or occupational therapy sessions) and have new MRI studies, CT scans, x-rays and ultrasound tests done right here, on site. We work with people of all ages, and tailor treatments to your individual needs and physical condition. Your caregivers and family members are welcome to attend sessions, as they may play a vital role in helping you to practice skills at home.

Services provided by Neurosurgical Specialty Services at ERH include evaluation and treatment of neurological/neurosurgical conditions such as:
Patients may be seen on a walk-in or referral basis, and the first step in diagnosing a problem is a physical examination and a comprehensive medical history. Your examination will include a discussion with Dr. Hahn about your symptoms and concerns, and further testing – such as MRI, x-rays, CT Scans and ultrasounds – will be done as needed. If Dr. Hahn determines that outpatient neurological surgery is right for you, scheduling is flexible.
What kind of treatment and therapy might I receive?
Our innovative Neurosurgical Specialty Services offers outpatient surgery and procedures designed to alleviate pain/discomfort and improve mobility/function, in combination with prescribed and over-the-counter medications, non-pharmacologic approaches and physical therapy. Referrals to the ERH Physical Therapy Department, ERH Pain Management Services, ERH Occupational Therapy, ERH Speech/Language Pathology and ERH Digital Diagnostic Imaging Department will be made, as needed, within the context of the program’s emphasis on looking at the whole person.
Do you accept referrals?
Yes, we encourage referrals from medical professionals, caregivers and others.
Working with your provider
If you need additional medical services (such as a prescription for medications or referrals for physical therapy), we will work with your provider or refer you to our staff professionals.
Who pays for my treatment?
Medicare and most major health insurers will pay for part of your Neurosurgical Specialty Services. If you cannot afford to pay, you may be eligible for our financial assistance program. Most insurances are accepted.
